Septarian Slab

These beautiful Septarian Slabs have yellow calcite and aragonite. These pieces can blend easily with all kinds of decor and further enhances the beauty.  Septarian Nodules were formed during the Cretaceous period, 50 to 70 million years ago when the Gulf of Mexico reached what is now Southern Utah. Septarian or septarian nodules are concretions containing angular cavities or cracks, called "septaria" which have become filled with calcite and aragonite. A concretion is hard, compact mass of rock that often forms around decaying organic matter. These slabs come in 4 sizes  5.5″"W x .5″D (1 lbs), 5″Wx .5″D (.63 lbs), 4.5″W x .5″D (.90 lbs) and 4″Wx .5″D (.70 lbs). Due to the unique nature of natural stones, each piece may vary in actual shape, color and size.
